Vic: Fatal plane crash probably not shot at, police
Police say an incident where an aircraft was shot at and a fatal light plane crash
are probably not linked.
Police have confirmed a light aircraft was punctured by a bullet while on a flight
from Romsey northwest of Melbourne to Tooradin southeast of Melbourne earlier this month.
But Acting Inspector WAYNE MORGAN of the Gisborne police, says it's probably not associated
with the crash of another plane into a paddock at Gisborne, also northwest of Melbourne,
on December 1, in which four young friends died.
The wreck of the Cessna 172 which crashed nine days ago, has been unearthed from a
suburban tip amid claims the aircraft may have been shot down.
The Victorian coroner is set to investigate the claim, following reports another aircraft
had been fired upon.
Mr MORGAN says the aircraft that flew from Romsey to Tooradin was hit in the wing by
a bullet but no one knew precisely where the incident had happened.
