WA: Western Power bosses brace themseves for scathing report
Western Power is bracing itself for scathing criticism into February's power restrictions
when the conclusions of an inquiry into the crisis are released later today.
The former chairman and chief executive of Western Australia's power supplier were
forced to resign over the power restrictions that were imposed on residents and businesses
across the state on February 17.
Their replacements can expect uncomfortable reading when former Woodside executive
CHRIS CRONIN hands down his observations,.
They're expected to severely censure the corporation's management culture and crisis
management procedures.
Unseasonal sweltering heat and temperatures hovering around 40 degrees celsius for
two days in mid-February prompted record power consumption, which Western Power was unable
to cope with.
All non-essential power use was banned, with breaches attracting a possible $1,000
fine for individuals and $10,000 for companies.
